Concept

Project began as a response to 16 year old Alber Einstein's pondering how might it look like to ride the beam of light. I tried to create meaningful ways of accessing higher dimensions. First to tackle with visualising 4 dimensions, 3 in space and one in time.

The core of special relativity is quite easily understandable concept. When explained effectively any child can follow the reasoning straight away. But instead of creating an educational piece, I wanted to create more like an experience, capturing some of the essence of 4 dimensional space, but leaving the decision and meaning-making to the user.

During the process, I learned that there was quite a few other people who had been exploring similar concepts (ie. John Maeda at MIT and Joachim Sauter at art+com), but I was already aware of the possibility of "reinventing the wheel". Simple designs are normally the most effective.
