Imagetype is a tool for associative writing, where the author doesn't know in the beginning where the story will be taken to.

It distracts and redirects the flow of thoughts in the writing process by pulling images from Google's searches and subtly fades them in the background

The system doesn't do any complex language processing, and thus the images are often relaitvely unrelated to the subject. They may distract and even derail the writer off the initial topic, and turns the writing process more into a wwandering in a space of vaguely related concepts.

The work is inspired by Mike Bennet's Symbolify which translates words to symbols as well as Cati Vaucelle's Textable movie, which allows a storyteller to compose and visualise movies while writing.
