Similar to the 'doodling' when in a phone or in a boring lecture, imagetype is a writing application that proposes different trajectories to the writer in the form of image searches on the internet.
Every time the user stops writing, imagetype pulls the results of google image searches of the last 2 written words to the background of the text. These images may often be related to what the writing is about at a given time, but it can easily also be something totally different, as the system does not have any higher level understanding of the content of the story.
It can derail the writer to a different trajectory, very much like free associative writing.
