generation gap

The basic premise of a-life is that complex patterns emerge from simple rules when they are applied in parallel to large body of agents. The "generation gap" installation lets the user play with the rules of John Conway's "the game of life" with little wooden blocks, that feed to the computational version of the game displayed on the same board.

Playing with the blocks helps to undrestand the local rules, and the computational overlay displays the global patterns forming over time, as it takes hundreds of generations to see the patterns form.
